The Impact Of Television On Individuals And Society In Australia. By Tim Russell.
Life Before The Television Was Introduced To Australia.
Before Television was introduced to Australia in the late 1950's, life was very different. One of the main differences is that families used to spend much more time doing things together. Instead of just sitting around watching the TV they would often spend quality time together playing games, talking to each other, or just listening to the radio. Children's lives were also very different. After they finished school for the day they would go outside and do things such as play games, or make something. Because they did a lot more physical activity then most children do today they were much fitter. A lot of kids did listen to the radio a lot, but they didn't spend anywhere near the amount of time listening to the radio as most kids today spend watching the TV. Parents also spent much more time with their children because they couldn't just turn on the TV to keep them entertained. Before the television was introduced life was probably more healthy. People had to use their imagination more, and they spent more time with real people.
Development And Need For The Television.
Television gradually developed over a long period of time. It took a lot of money and hard work. Many scientists and technicians were kept busy with the development of TV. They had to keep improving the standard and quality of it. The scientists and technicians needed money to help with their studies and development. To get the finance that they needed opportunities were made available for people to invest in the companies. Once the improvements had been made they had had to produce and market them. This required money for factories and advertising, so as you can see the investors played a major part in the development of television. The need for television in Australia was the world kept advancing at a very fast rate. People needed to be both entertained and informed, and the television proved to be an excellent way to do both. The TV can show you any part of the world, in the blink of an eye, and it is one of the only inventions that can do this. It's no wonder that it has been in such high demand all over the world.
Impact Of Television On Australia.
The impact of television when it was first introduced to Australia was very large. Within only a few years almost house in the country had a TV. I think that the main reason that television took of so quickly is because most people were very interested in the TV itself, and how it worked. Another reason is that people wanted to be entertained and informed. The other possible reason that I can think of for TV becoming so popular is because, some people probably wanted one simply because everybody else had one. The television was good for people running a business because it was easy for them to advertise their product to a huge audience. | The impact of the actual Television screen, or picture tube on Australia is also huge. Most people don't realise how many television screens are around them. TV screens are used in computers, automatic tellers, scoreboards, security systems, clocks, some phones, etc. If the television screen had never been invented, then Australia would be a different place.
